He became interested in playing the drums at a young age and taught himself to play. His father’s service meant the family moved often, so Masego spent time in Virginia and in South Carolina. His father is Jamaican and was a member of the United States Air Force his mother is an African American entrepreneur. Masego was born Micah Davis in 1993 in Waterhouse, St Andrew, and then moved to New York when he was four years old. One nomination is for the Best Progressive R&B album for his “Studying Abroad: Extended Stay” recording, and the other is for his work as a producer on “Certified Lover Boy” from Drake, which is nominated for Best Rap Album. The Jamaican American musician, Masego, has received two Grammy nominations for 2022. ![]()
